My Group for Commercial Project
For the commercial project, I'm considering two possible options. The first of these is to simply work alone. I prefer working alone for any number of reasons. I often find my classmates to be unreliable in their timing, and sometimes I'll be waiting for them to complete their part for hours or days, which is always unnerving. I also double-check the actual quality of the work itself, since I want to make sure that it is sufficiently thorough and informative compared to the work I know I can vouch for. I suppose my dislike of group projects comes from a natural distrust, or perhaps a feeling of my classmates being unreliable. However, generally my classmates are actually very diligent about their work and I believe my disbelief in them is largely misplaced. However, working alone brings up numerous practical problems- I would have to conceptualize, research, film, edit, and reshoot the entire project myself, which would be extremely tedious. I am also considering working with, and probably will end up paired with, one of my classmates, Jack Strien, who sits next to me in class. He and I have already collaborated on one project which was previously due in class, and we worked well together. He completed his portion of the project quickly and efficiently, and I didn't see any glaring issues with his information or presentation. He's a diligent worker and definitely smart, or at the very least he knows how to find the information he needs. He and I worked well together and we have each other's phone numbers, so we'll most likely coordinate out jobs. The team aspect does also make it much easier practically, since we can split up the work we have to do and put less strain on ourselves. It's possible that we'll end up adding a third or fourth to or group, but I doubt it, since neither. of us seem to know many people in class but they all know each other.
