Title Website Research

 First Website

I decided to consider the website Art of the Title. I initially found this site when searching for a title sequence designer. After searching through a couple other websites I found that this site is one of the best choices. This site displays many examples I can use to get a better understanding of how the elements of title sequences generally work. In doing this, my group will be able to make a better title than we would have been able to without having known the different genre conventions. By searching through the wide range of both designer’s and studios’ title sequences I'll be able to make my own title sequences that follow the proper genre conventions. This website shows recent, recommended, and classic title sequences to choose from. There are also many popular movie titles’ title sequences featured on this site. In all, this website is a good source I can use to gather information about the conventions of my genre that are used in title sequences of many different films. When I make my films title, I will use this website to find the conventions of my genre.

Second Website

After finding the first website, I’m also considering the website Forget the Film, Watch the Titles! This website has the same key features as my first website, but there is an even larger title sequence to choose from. Not only does it have a large selection of title sequences, this website also has sections for feature film, tv shows, event titles, student projects, and video games. Though at first glance it might seem like this website is identical to the first, this is not the case. This is because the first website offers more mainstream title sequences, while this website offers some mainstream but mostly focuses on title sequences that were known for being interesting and memorable. Due to this my group will be exposed to title sequences that are not only popular but are also renowned for being special or memorable to viewers. This will help us because I will be exposed to different aspects that fall under the same genre. By utilizing both websites I will have gathered a lot of information on conventional aspects as well as abstract aspects when it comes to title sequences. Essentially, by using this website I will build a better understanding of the extent to what falls under the genre I’m finding conventions for. Also, in using both websites one makes up for what the other lacks. In this case the first website lacks mostly abstract themes, while the second lacks mostly mainstream title sequences.
