Intro Blog for Music Video Project

  My name is Jacob Vanzile, but I prefer to go by Jake. I'm in 11th grade and this is my first year in AICE Media. Truth be told, this course wasn't exactly what I thought it was- I was under the impression that it was more focused on studying how forms of media affect our lives and the various opinions within them, rather than a class solely regarding filming and film terms. However, I decided to stick with it rather than transferring out, as I thought it could still be interesting. I like to read, write, and draw and have played tennis for about eight years. I do play on the school team when it is in season, and I also play recreationally and practice outside of the school. In my house, we watch movies very frequently, so that was definitely an easy way this class could be applied to my everyday life. My mom was also interested and still is in what I'm learning in this class, because she minored in film in college. I only need one more AICE credit in order to complete the actual content-related section of AICE diploma, even though I have a few more requirements to go from the perspective of my actual graduation diploma. I am taking two AICE classes this year- this class, and AICE Psychology. This way, there's a better chance that I will still earn my AICE diploma, since students are restricted from taking any AICE classes in senior year. I've always been interested in how outside stimuli affects the public opinion, even when said stimuli consists of information proven to be false or misleading. It would be interesting to see how media can be manipulated to influence the population, be it advertising within a movie or precise diction in a news source to give the reader an opinion before reading. Since that idea had always interested me, that is why I originally put this class down, given that I was under the impression that it was a general studies class. However, I'm sure this class as it actually is will contain some similarly valuable lessons and curriculum, even if it is different than I expected. I'm looking forward to this year and all it will bring.

Filming 1 for Commercial Project

  Today my group did the first part of our filming for the commercial project. The filming was done outside, on our school's track. I was the primary actor in our project, since there are only two of us. When we began filming, we first had to work out the minutiae of how we wanted to handle everything procedurally- if we were to take shots in order or do all of the running shots first, then the drinking shots, then the Gatorade. We also worked out where our cameraman would be standing for each shot and how he would be panning or zooming. After these details were settled, we began filming. We'd decided on doing the running first, so we did a few different takes for each section. There are 3 main shots of running in the first half, so we took these shots first. I started from a similar point of the track each time and jogged to an orange mark further down the track each time, which served as our "finish line." Filming Blog for Final Project: Base Shots

  Due to time constraints posed by group members, we couldn't film many shots, so we filmed the few shots that took place in the area meant to be the Base in the actual film. To achieve the effect that my group was picturing, we used a nearby crafts store to acquire materials that we would use to create elements of the set that would perpetuate the futuristic aesthetic my group was aiming to create. I personally participated in the sketching and tracing of these materials while my groupmates helped arrange them. Since I finished my task before theirs, I helped look for some resources online which could create the radar effect that figured heavily into some of our scenes. I found several resources but there was one which was the obvious superior, so I went with that option as the one that my group would use.   How many titles are displayed during the opening sequences to the film? Which ones? There are a total of 29 titles displayed during the opening sequences of Code 8, including individual acting credits and individual personal titles. The first title displayed is the name of the studio, followed by associated studios, the production company’s credit, various acting credits, the credits of the casting directors, and the visual effects supervisor.
